Must Have Shoes Part 1

Welcome back fans:-) In the past couple of weeks I have put together outfits for many different occasions. However, you cannot have great outfits without... GREAT SHOES!!! This blog is going to consist of an article posted by Yahoo about the top ten must have women shoes, and also my spin on my top picks of shoes.

http://shopping.yahoo.com/news/10-shoes-every-woman-own-000000700.html

The link posted above is the link to the Yahoo article for what they believe are the women's top ten shoes. Below I am going to post pictures of my top 11 picks for shoes, simply because I could not narrow it down. Some of my picks will be similar to Yahoo's however others will be different.

Yahoo's first pick are peep toe, nude heels. My first pick is similar, but I prefer pumps, to peep toe shoes. The pic above is suede nude pumps. Nude shoes are great to have; they go great with any color. Whether you choose peep toe, pumps, or flats always have a nude pair of shoes on hand.

The next shoe Yahoo discusses is black city boots. However, my next pick are brown riding boots. They go great with skinny jeans and leggings and offer a very comfy substitution to a high heeled boot, while still maintaining their dressy prescence.

The next pick on Yahoo's site was ballet flats. Me and Yahoo agree on this one, flats are a must have. Ballet flats can have many different looks they can have a rounded toe like above, a pointed toe, or even a more squared toe. I like the look of the round toe better, and flats are a great substitute for heels if you plan on doing a lot of walking on your night out on the town.

The next shoe mentioned by Yahoo is a wooden platform sandal. I chose a different route and went with an espadrille soled sandal, a sole that look like it is made from a twine like material. This sandal also known as a wedge, has a built in gel insert which makes it more comfortable. I choose this sole over a wooden sole because wooden soles are often slick and heavy. This option is more light and comfy.

The next shoe Yahoo put on their list is a canvas sneaker. This sneaker is a low-top tennis shoe. However, my next pick is an Oxford shoe, this shoe consists of laces similar to a tenni, but has a dressy appeal and goes great with a capri or short for spring.

The next shoe Yahoo chose is a black pump. Everyone should have a black pump. However, I believe a cute alternative to a black pump, would be this edgy combat boot. This boot looks awesome with skinnies and leggings, and adds an edgy appeal to any outfit, even a skirt or dress.

Alright folks in order to keep you coming back I decided to save my last five must have shoes for next week. I know, I had your alls hopes up, but I hope you have enjoyed the first part of this blog and I will either finish it this week or the beginning of next week, so stay tuned. I have to keep all my fans coming back for more;-) XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Outfits for Upcoming event

Hi all, welcome back. I bet you all are curious after reading the title, what upcoming event am I putting outfits together for? Well this Saturday there is a concert at Mizzou featuring no other than the hot and sexy... LUKE BRYAN!!! So ladies of course I am going to share with you how to go out in style;-)

Alrighty ladies, here it is, outfit numero uno. Both these outfits have similarities, which make for some cute concert outfits. The outfit on the left is a silk button up, that drapes lower in the back than in the front paired with dark skinny jeans and black and brown Corral boots (a certain type of cowgirl boots). The outfit on the right is a silk shirt with beading around the neckline paired also with dark skinny jeans and Corral boots. Either way you choose to wear your top button-up or dressy with embellishment this two shirts pair well with some skinnies and cute boots. We all know how Luke Bryan loves him some tight jeans!

The next outfit we have of course would be a dress and cowboy boots. This dress consists of a brown silk material with a black lace overlay with embellishment (beading) around the neck. Also, it is supposed to be very cool this weekend so the jean jacket will add some warmth to this sleeveless dress. The last piece would be my favorite article of clothing, as you can guess because it has been featured twice in this article, the Corral boots. These boots pair well with this dress because they are black and brown as well. So for those ladies who want to show a little more leg, here's an outfit for you.

The third and final outfit is a rose colored button up top with lace sleeves paired with black leggings and short cowgirl boots. This outfit would also be cute with a black or brown high-waisted belt around the shirt. These cowgirl boots are better for those ladies that do not like the style of real cowgirl boots. These have more sparkle and a higher heel to add a more dressy appeal.

So there it is for those ladies who are fortunate enough to watch Luke Bryan shake it on stage, and for those of you who are not, these outfit are great to wear to any country concert. So keep these in mind for any upcoming concerts!!! XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Picks of the Week

Alright people it's that time again. I'm back, but this week instead of discussing places to shop, I am going to be picking some cute outfits picked up from one of the top social media sites, you guessed it... PINTEREST!
                                                                                          (pinterest.com)

First outfit topic of the week is oversized sweaters. Ok, ladies I know that eventually it will get warmer outside, but lets not put those sweaters away just yet. We still have a few weeks left of winter, so why not do it right and be comfy at the same time. In the above picture the sweater was paired up with a silk top and jean shorts. I am  also going to show you a different way in which to wear your oversized sweater.

The second picture is an outfit I have selected out of my closet. This is a black and gold oversized sweater, with a animal print burnout underneath, and a black and gold chunky necklace for an accent piece. Sweaters in the winter time look great with skinny jeans. That is why I chose one of my favorite pairs of skinny jeans, my Rock Revivals (a brand sold at The Buckle). This particular pair of denim is a dark denim with gold accents that coincide with the gold details on the sweater and the necklace. This outfit would also pair nicely with black or brown boots, and not feeling the necklace? Substitute it with a gold or black scarf.

The second item of clothing I will discuss this week are cardigans. Above the cardigan is showed with a plain white v-neck tee, jean shorts, and a pair of black, what looks to be like combat boots. She is also wearing some chunky bracelets and a watch to accent the outfit. Although these outfits are pictured with jean shorts, I am going to show them with pants so my audience can see how to dress these pieces up for the winter time.

The picture above shows another outfit selected from my closet. This outfit is a twist to the Pinterest outfit above with the cardigan and jean shorts. This outfit consists of a bright blue cardigan, a silk button up, both with three quarter-link sleeves. Instead of a short sleeve white tee, I chose a white silk button up to dress up the cardigan a bit more. This cardigan would look great with these black Miss Me skinny jeans, and nude heels. This outfit is more office appropriate and also a little bit warmer for those colder winter days. The last piece is another chunky necklace with diamonds and nude colored beads, to tone down the brightness of the cardigan and pull in the color of the heels.

Well I hope my viewers find my outfit suggestions helpful, and if there are any questions or comments please feel free to leave them on my page. Also, I may need some suggestions for what to put on next week's blog so if there is anything my viewers would like to see let me know and I will be happy to include it. Since there are a few more weeks of winter left, we must continue to find clothes to mix and match in our closests, and this is why I am posting more outfit ideas for the cooler winter days. Enjoy! Shopping in downtown Columbia

Hello all, welcome to Shop Spot, your one stop for all your shopping needs. My first topic for my blog is going to be about downtown shopping in Columbia, Missouri. Today I had some time after school to blow, therefore my friend and I went to some stores downtown to see what all they had to offer. The stores we visited today were Britches, Envy, Glik's, and Elly's Couture. All these stores had similar styles and a nice selection of clothing.

The first store we visited was Britches. This store consisted of many bright colors and a lot of different styles of dresses. They carried materials such as leather and silk, and a lot of their clothing consisted of glitter or sequins. Sounds like my kind of store! Not only did Britches carry a wide variety of tops and dresses, but they also carried denim. They carried brands such as Rock Revival (a brand of denim also carried at The Buckle), which is nice to know you can get great denim like Rock Revival at retailers in the downtown area. The sales associates were happy to greet us as we walked in the door, but were more hands-off when it came to helping pick out outfits. However, this did not bother me because me and my friend were just looking at the time. I give this store three out of five stars, for the fact that the staff was more hands-off.

Our next stop on our shopping trip was Envy (http://envyspot.com/). This store carried a broad assortment of pastel colored tops, dresses, and some denim. The color scheme in this store was definitely more spring oriented, getting ready for that up-and-coming season. I found many cute dresses and tops in this store and the sales associates were very nice and constantly chatting with the customers. As soon as I had product in hand a sales associate was there to start me a fitting room, and even threw some add-ons such as a bandeau top (for those of you who do not know, this is an undergarment worn under shirts). During my visit in this store I tried on three items and even purchased a new top to add to my wardrobe, through my whole process at this store the sales associates were helpful and very nice to talk to, but not too pushy. I give this store five out of five stars considering the atmosphere being so pleasant and the employees being at the customers side through the shopping process.

The next stop, a store by the name of Glik's (http://www.gliks.com/default.aspx). I have visited this store before and found it definitely in my comfort zone because they carry many styles I already own. This store consists of jeans, tops, outerwear, accessories, etc. They carry name brands, such as Billabong, Miss Me, and many others. At this store I found there to be a low number of employees on the floor, which can be a disadvantage if the store becomes busy. The sales associate was also more concerned about merchandising the store, than helping the customers. However, I did find some cute dresses for the Luke Bryan concert I will be attending this month. I tried a dress on and was very pleased with it, but still left the store empty handed. Had the sales associatge been a little more helpful, I may have made a purchase. In conclusion I would give this store three out five stars, because they had very cute clothing, but the sales-associates were not very helpful.

The last store we visited today was Elly's Couture (http://www.ellyscouture.com/). This store consisted of many boutique styles of dresses, boots, and tops. This store was all sparkle and glam. The sales associates were also very helpul when I was trying on boots and dresses. I found this store to have some very cute clothes, but also found some of their stuff to be overpriced. One shirt I picked up was $165! Not that I would not pay that for clothing, but I found that too be a tad out of my price-range for one shirt. Elly's Couture also had some very ellaborate and beautiful jewelry. All-in-all I would give this store four out of five stars. Everything was great, except for some of the overpriced items.

I hope any women going to shop in the downtown area reads this blog and takes into consideration the topics I have mentioned. I had a great time shopping downtown and would love to go back to every store I visited today. Feel free to click on any of the links above to view the styles of the stores before even walking into the store. I apologize for not having an available website for Britches, but I hope my readers have time to go check it out. XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley
