Video (10 must haves for your Summer wardrobe)

Welcome back everyone! Not only do you all get to check out my podcast, but I have now uploaded a video!

This video, posted above displays ten great outfits for summer. As the video goes through, there is a description of each outfit. These are just outfit ideas, feel free to definitely add your own tweaks to every outfit. Also, I did not accessorize a lot through this video because it focuses more on the outfits than the accessories, but you will catch some accessories in this video.

The video is done by me with the help of my friend Spenser Deeken, and the music used is titled, "I Love It," by Icona Pop.

I hope you all enjoy my video, and feel free to leave comments on my page about it:-) XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Podcast (How to save your clothes from the evil washer)

http://playlist.podbean.com/podcast-audio-video-blog-player/mp3playerdarkv3.swf?playlist=http://playlist.podbean.com/616243/playlist.xml" />

Welcome back my future fashionistas! I know it has been a couple weeks since I have made a blog post, but I'M BACK! Above you will find a link to a podcast I submitted to podbean.com. I encourage you all to listen to the podcast if you would like to know how to keep your clothes looking nice while washing them.

Below is the script to my podcast, if you all would like to follow along. ENJOY! XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Script for Podcast

Hello everyone, today I am going to be discussing how to keep your clothes looking nice after you wash them. We have all had those moments where we take a clothing item out of the washer and it has shrunk, been bleached, or the decoration has fallen off. This is frustrating and after this happens you have to fix it, or never wear it again because most stores will not return it. Also, the wash tags on the inside of clothing do not tell you all the details you must know, but I have the solutions to all your problems.

First, let’s say you want to wash jeans and keep them from fading, but also keep the rhinestones on the pockets. Always make sure when washing jeans that you turn them inside-out especially the jeans that have décor on the pockets. Turning them inside-out will keep the outside of the jeans looking nice, and also keep the beads on the pockets. However, if you are still leery about washing those new jeans with all the bling, take a pillowcase and put them inside the pillow case. Last, but not least make sure to wash jeans on cold/cool and do not dry them all the way just until the pockets are still wet, and dry them on a delicate or casual setting. This way the jeans will not shrink and will not be stiff.

The next item we all put in the washer is that favorite shirt we wore last week and need to go out in that night. This shirt is the cutest because it has sequins all over it. There are two ways that I would suggest for washing shirts like this. The first way is to turn it inside-out, put it in a pillowcase, wash it in cold water, and hang dry. The biggest rule with shirts that have a lot of décor (sequins, rhinestones, etc.) NEVER DRY THEM! The next way you can wash a shirt like this is to use detergent and cold water and hand wash it in your sink, be gentle and make sure your hands are clean before starting, and hang dry when finished. This way you will lose no glitz on your favorite shirt.

With summer right around the corner I had to let everyone know how to also keep their swimsuits from fading and make them last for many summers. You go swimming in a chlorine pool come home throw your swimsuit on the floor and do this repeatedly, this is what causes it to fade so quickly. So the next time you go swimming, wash your swimsuit out with cold water as soon as you change and hang it up. Every so often it is ok to wash your swimsuit on cool and dry it on the delicate cycle, but I would suggest only doing this like once a month or every other week if necessary. Last tip with swimsuits is, if you have white lining, never wear these types of swimsuits creek swimming, this will cause the lining to turn brown and it is hard to get it back to white.

Even though I have given you all great tips to wash your clothes, I would still encourage you all to read the tags and pay attention to the washing instructions on these as well. Use your smarts and my tips and your clothes will stay looking great for many wears.

What's the best way to finish an outfit????

Welcome back viewers! I am super pumped to share this blog with you all because it is about one of my favorite topics. What is the one rule of fashion no woman should ever forget??? ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE!!!

Today I will be sharing with you the top five accessories every woman should own.

The first and most popular accessories to the fashion world are chunky necklaces. These go great with shirts that have a low neckline, or a very simple tee. However, make sure not to over do it, if you wear a chunky necklace, the rest of your jewelry should be more simple so the necklace really stands out. Here are some of my very own necklaces.

Next accessory on the list... LILY AND LAURA BRACELETS!!! What are Lily and Laura bracelets you ask? Well they are a specific brand of glass beaded bracelets, and you can normally find them in almost every color imaginable. I normally choose to wear a bunch at a time, or pair them up with other bracelets. Below are some of the ones I have in my accessory collection.

The third item on my list of accessories are fashion scarves. Many people are aware of these and fashion scarves have been around now for a couple years. Not only can you wear these scarves in the winter time, but they are also great for spring because they are very lightweight. Here is a picture of some different colors and patterns I own.

The next two accessories I will be discussing are my personal favorites! The first one is studded earrings. I prefer bigger studs, while others may prefer smaller earrings. I wear my studs with everything, my work outfit, and when I go out. Studded earrings can add a sparkle to any outfit.

The last accessories I am going to share with you are something that was popular in the 90s, but is now making a comeback... EARCUFFS! What are they you ask? Well the next time you want an ear piercing, go out and buy an ear cuff; they are simple and painless. You just take the cuff open it up and clamp it on the outside of your ear. The picture below will show how ear cuffs are used. The silver piece on the outside of the ear is the cuff.

Well there you all go! Five ways to accessorize and complete your outfits. Until next time XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Retail Therapy

Welcome back viewers! I know it has been a couple weeks because I took a week off to spend time with family friends like we all have, but I'm back and today's topic... RETAIL THERAPY!!! What better way to deal with a bad day than by ending it with a shopping spree? But the major question is does retail therapy truly work?

According to an article done by The British Psychological Society, titled "Does retail therapy work?," it states, "It might not be possible to buy happiness, but you can buy relief from low mood." A study done by Selin Atalay and Margaret Meloy proved retail therapy does work, and they did this through three different experiments.

Now instead of telling everyone the details of the study I will let you all check it out for yourselves. The link listed below is a one page simple reading of a study that proves retail therapy truly works.

http://bps-research-digest.blogspot.com/2011/06/does-retail-therapy-work.html

I believe retail therapy does very well work for the simple fact when I am in a bad mood and have went to the mall, buying something always seems to make me feel better.

For example, Monday I was having a terrible day. I went to the mall with a list of items I needed to purchase and came out $150 later with way more than I had intended.

Next time you're having a bad day I would suggest going to the mall, it may hurt the pocketbook, but it seems to give people who do this a shopping high and enhance their mood.

Until next time XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley.

Easter Outfits!

Welcome back blog audience:-) Today, I have Spring fever and I am also over the fact that it still remains cold outside. Therefore, I decided today's blog is going to be about Spring, but not just about Spring, but a particular holiday that is right around the corner... EASTER! I know around Easter time everyone scrambles to find that perfect outfit for their family gatherings, well today I am going to give you three idea's and hopefully the weather permits.

The outfit above is a great Spring outfit, but I think it is ever so cute for Easter! This outfit includes white skinny jeans, which can be rolled up into a capri. The top is a orange vest with a pink and orange t-back tank underneath. These colors are great for Spring, which makes them appropriate for an Easter picnic. The shoes are just a cute decorative sandal, which will look great with the rolled up skinny jeans.

The next outfit choice is a very simple casual outfit, so great if you have to play with little kids during the Easter egg hunt. This outfit consists of a casual pair of skinny jeans, which can also be rolled into a capri if one chooses, and cute little oxford shoes provide a casual, yet dressy look to the outfit. The last pieces are a simple pastel pink scoop neck tee, and a grey sparkly vest. This outfit is great for all those outdoors activities on Easter.

The last outfit, and probably my personal favorite. This outfit includes a glitzy pair of denim capris, with a simple black wedge. This outfit is for those Easter gatherings, that include a more laid back approach. Definitely would not want to be running in four inch wedges. The last pieces are a pastel green tank with a chiffon top that includes floral decor. This is the ultimate Easter outfit.

Glad you all got to come back and check out my posts again. I hope you all find this blog helpful for your Easter gatherings, and oh yea before I forget... HAPPY EASTER!!! XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Must Have Shoes Part 2

Welcome back! The wait is now over, this is the continuation from last week's blog about women's must have shoes. The website I posted below is the same website listed on last week's blog. Just to refresh everyone's memory on Yahoo's top picks for shoes.

http://shopping.yahoo.com/news/10-shoes-every-woman-own-000000700.html

Yahoo's number seven pick were metallic sandals, they suggested to get a gold pair. However, I would make sure to have a silver pair as well. The sandals listed above are Naughty Monkey brand, and consists of silver straps, with diamond and blue gems.

The next pick Yahoo chose were suede booties, I agree with them on this one. Suede booties are a cute alternative to pumps and also offer more support. The suede booties pictured above are Gianni Bini booties, these particular booties have silver gems down the front and also consist of gel inserts which makes them comfortable.

Next on Yahoo's list are leather sandals, while I agree everyone should have leather sandals for the summer time, I am taking this opportunity to tell you all about my personal favorite sandals, Sanuks. These sandals are very comfy, and some even consist of yoga mat soles. On top of these sandals being so comfy, they also consist of just enough bling where you can also dress them up with a pair of denim shorts and a tank.

Yahoo's next choice are just a gourgeous pair of shoes, basically any pair of shoe you find in your closet that is one of your absolute fave's. One of the pairs I chose as my favorite are Sperry's. These shoes are comfy and also can be worn with essentially any outfit. Wear them with yoga pants, or jeans and a dressy top.

Showing my country roots with this one. My next personal favorite are these fabulous Corral boots. Made of real leather, and consisting of sequened details these boots ring in at about $300. These boots are awesome in the summer time with denim shorts, a summer dress, or jeans in the winter. These boots are very versatile.

Well I hope you all enjoyed the continuation of last week's blog, and that the anticipation from last week didn't kill you:-) The goal of this blog is to help people expand and get the fullest use out of their wardrobe. If you get nothing else out of this blog I hope you all at least enjoyed reading it. XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Must Have Shoes Part 1

Welcome back fans:-) In the past couple of weeks I have put together outfits for many different occasions. However, you cannot have great outfits without... GREAT SHOES!!! This blog is going to consist of an article posted by Yahoo about the top ten must have women shoes, and also my spin on my top picks of shoes.

http://shopping.yahoo.com/news/10-shoes-every-woman-own-000000700.html

The link posted above is the link to the Yahoo article for what they believe are the women's top ten shoes. Below I am going to post pictures of my top 11 picks for shoes, simply because I could not narrow it down. Some of my picks will be similar to Yahoo's however others will be different.

Yahoo's first pick are peep toe, nude heels. My first pick is similar, but I prefer pumps, to peep toe shoes. The pic above is suede nude pumps. Nude shoes are great to have; they go great with any color. Whether you choose peep toe, pumps, or flats always have a nude pair of shoes on hand.

The next shoe Yahoo discusses is black city boots. However, my next pick are brown riding boots. They go great with skinny jeans and leggings and offer a very comfy substitution to a high heeled boot, while still maintaining their dressy prescence.

The next pick on Yahoo's site was ballet flats. Me and Yahoo agree on this one, flats are a must have. Ballet flats can have many different looks they can have a rounded toe like above, a pointed toe, or even a more squared toe. I like the look of the round toe better, and flats are a great substitute for heels if you plan on doing a lot of walking on your night out on the town.

The next shoe mentioned by Yahoo is a wooden platform sandal. I chose a different route and went with an espadrille soled sandal, a sole that look like it is made from a twine like material. This sandal also known as a wedge, has a built in gel insert which makes it more comfortable. I choose this sole over a wooden sole because wooden soles are often slick and heavy. This option is more light and comfy.

The next shoe Yahoo put on their list is a canvas sneaker. This sneaker is a low-top tennis shoe. However, my next pick is an Oxford shoe, this shoe consists of laces similar to a tenni, but has a dressy appeal and goes great with a capri or short for spring.

The next shoe Yahoo chose is a black pump. Everyone should have a black pump. However, I believe a cute alternative to a black pump, would be this edgy combat boot. This boot looks awesome with skinnies and leggings, and adds an edgy appeal to any outfit, even a skirt or dress.

Alright folks in order to keep you coming back I decided to save my last five must have shoes for next week. I know, I had your alls hopes up, but I hope you have enjoyed the first part of this blog and I will either finish it this week or the beginning of next week, so stay tuned. I have to keep all my fans coming back for more;-) XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Outfits for Upcoming event

Hi all, welcome back. I bet you all are curious after reading the title, what upcoming event am I putting outfits together for? Well this Saturday there is a concert at Mizzou featuring no other than the hot and sexy... LUKE BRYAN!!! So ladies of course I am going to share with you how to go out in style;-)

Alrighty ladies, here it is, outfit numero uno. Both these outfits have similarities, which make for some cute concert outfits. The outfit on the left is a silk button up, that drapes lower in the back than in the front paired with dark skinny jeans and black and brown Corral boots (a certain type of cowgirl boots). The outfit on the right is a silk shirt with beading around the neckline paired also with dark skinny jeans and Corral boots. Either way you choose to wear your top button-up or dressy with embellishment this two shirts pair well with some skinnies and cute boots. We all know how Luke Bryan loves him some tight jeans!

The next outfit we have of course would be a dress and cowboy boots. This dress consists of a brown silk material with a black lace overlay with embellishment (beading) around the neck. Also, it is supposed to be very cool this weekend so the jean jacket will add some warmth to this sleeveless dress. The last piece would be my favorite article of clothing, as you can guess because it has been featured twice in this article, the Corral boots. These boots pair well with this dress because they are black and brown as well. So for those ladies who want to show a little more leg, here's an outfit for you.

The third and final outfit is a rose colored button up top with lace sleeves paired with black leggings and short cowgirl boots. This outfit would also be cute with a black or brown high-waisted belt around the shirt. These cowgirl boots are better for those ladies that do not like the style of real cowgirl boots. These have more sparkle and a higher heel to add a more dressy appeal.

So there it is for those ladies who are fortunate enough to watch Luke Bryan shake it on stage, and for those of you who are not, these outfit are great to wear to any country concert. So keep these in mind for any upcoming concerts!!! XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley

Picks of the Week

Alright people it's that time again. I'm back, but this week instead of discussing places to shop, I am going to be picking some cute outfits picked up from one of the top social media sites, you guessed it... PINTEREST!
                                                                                          (pinterest.com)

First outfit topic of the week is oversized sweaters. Ok, ladies I know that eventually it will get warmer outside, but lets not put those sweaters away just yet. We still have a few weeks left of winter, so why not do it right and be comfy at the same time. In the above picture the sweater was paired up with a silk top and jean shorts. I am  also going to show you a different way in which to wear your oversized sweater.

The second picture is an outfit I have selected out of my closet. This is a black and gold oversized sweater, with a animal print burnout underneath, and a black and gold chunky necklace for an accent piece. Sweaters in the winter time look great with skinny jeans. That is why I chose one of my favorite pairs of skinny jeans, my Rock Revivals (a brand sold at The Buckle). This particular pair of denim is a dark denim with gold accents that coincide with the gold details on the sweater and the necklace. This outfit would also pair nicely with black or brown boots, and not feeling the necklace? Substitute it with a gold or black scarf.

                                (pinterest.com)

The second item of clothing I will discuss this week are cardigans. Above the cardigan is showed with a plain white v-neck tee, jean shorts, and a pair of black, what looks to be like combat boots. She is also wearing some chunky bracelets and a watch to accent the outfit. Although these outfits are pictured with jean shorts, I am going to show them with pants so my audience can see how to dress these pieces up for the winter time.

The picture above shows another outfit selected from my closet. This outfit is a twist to the Pinterest outfit above with the cardigan and jean shorts. This outfit consists of a bright blue cardigan, a silk button up, both with three quarter-link sleeves. Instead of a short sleeve white tee, I chose a white silk button up to dress up the cardigan a bit more. This cardigan would look great with these black Miss Me skinny jeans, and nude heels. This outfit is more office appropriate and also a little bit warmer for those colder winter days. The last piece is another chunky necklace with diamonds and nude colored beads, to tone down the brightness of the cardigan and pull in the color of the heels.

Well I hope my viewers find my outfit suggestions helpful, and if there are any questions or comments please feel free to leave them on my page. Also, I may need some suggestions for what to put on next week's blog so if there is anything my viewers would like to see let me know and I will be happy to include it. Since there are a few more weeks of winter left, we must continue to find clothes to mix and match in our closests, and this is why I am posting more outfit ideas for the cooler winter days. Enjoy! Shopping in downtown Columbia

Hello all, welcome to Shop Spot, your one stop for all your shopping needs. My first topic for my blog is going to be about downtown shopping in Columbia, Missouri. Today I had some time after school to blow, therefore my friend and I went to some stores downtown to see what all they had to offer. The stores we visited today were Britches, Envy, Glik's, and Elly's Couture. All these stores had similar styles and a nice selection of clothing.

The first store we visited was Britches. This store consisted of many bright colors and a lot of different styles of dresses. They carried materials such as leather and silk, and a lot of their clothing consisted of glitter or sequins. Sounds like my kind of store! Not only did Britches carry a wide variety of tops and dresses, but they also carried denim. They carried brands such as Rock Revival (a brand of denim also carried at The Buckle), which is nice to know you can get great denim like Rock Revival at retailers in the downtown area. The sales associates were happy to greet us as we walked in the door, but were more hands-off when it came to helping pick out outfits. However, this did not bother me because me and my friend were just looking at the time. I give this store three out of five stars, for the fact that the staff was more hands-off.

Our next stop on our shopping trip was Envy (http://envyspot.com/). This store carried a broad assortment of pastel colored tops, dresses, and some denim. The color scheme in this store was definitely more spring oriented, getting ready for that up-and-coming season. I found many cute dresses and tops in this store and the sales associates were very nice and constantly chatting with the customers. As soon as I had product in hand a sales associate was there to start me a fitting room, and even threw some add-ons such as a bandeau top (for those of you who do not know, this is an undergarment worn under shirts). During my visit in this store I tried on three items and even purchased a new top to add to my wardrobe, through my whole process at this store the sales associates were helpful and very nice to talk to, but not too pushy. I give this store five out of five stars considering the atmosphere being so pleasant and the employees being at the customers side through the shopping process.

The next stop, a store by the name of Glik's (http://www.gliks.com/default.aspx). I have visited this store before and found it definitely in my comfort zone because they carry many styles I already own. This store consists of jeans, tops, outerwear, accessories, etc. They carry name brands, such as Billabong, Miss Me, and many others. At this store I found there to be a low number of employees on the floor, which can be a disadvantage if the store becomes busy. The sales associate was also more concerned about merchandising the store, than helping the customers. However, I did find some cute dresses for the Luke Bryan concert I will be attending this month. I tried a dress on and was very pleased with it, but still left the store empty handed. Had the sales associatge been a little more helpful, I may have made a purchase. In conclusion I would give this store three out five stars, because they had very cute clothing, but the sales-associates were not very helpful.

The last store we visited today was Elly's Couture (http://www.ellyscouture.com/). This store consisted of many boutique styles of dresses, boots, and tops. This store was all sparkle and glam. The sales associates were also very helpul when I was trying on boots and dresses. I found this store to have some very cute clothes, but also found some of their stuff to be overpriced. One shirt I picked up was $165! Not that I would not pay that for clothing, but I found that too be a tad out of my price-range for one shirt. Elly's Couture also had some very ellaborate and beautiful jewelry. All-in-all I would give this store four out of five stars. Everything was great, except for some of the overpriced items.

I hope any women going to shop in the downtown area reads this blog and takes into consideration the topics I have mentioned. I had a great time shopping downtown and would love to go back to every store I visited today. Feel free to click on any of the links above to view the styles of the stores before even walking into the store. I apologize for not having an available website for Britches, but I hope my readers have time to go check it out. XOXO Shop Spot by Hayley
